WINTER GREEN, FL - The Temple golf team recorded its best 54-hole score at the Atlantic 10 Championship since 2002 with a 877 (+13) to finish seventh in the league championship at Orange County National Golf Center in Winter Green, FL. The Owls posted its best single round of the season, a one-under 287, led by redshirt freshman Sasha Bozic's three-under 69.

Improving its team total from a year ago by 18 strokes, the Cherry and White finished with a 300-290-287=877 (+13), placing eight strokes behind sixth-place St. Bonaventure. The team total was the best since the 2002 squad scored a 866 to place third.

Junior Paul Amess was the top finisher for Temple with a 74-71-72=217 (+1) and tied for 14th. Bozic recorded a 75-75-69=219 (+3) and tied for 22nd in the 60-player field.

Freshman Andrew Mason was a model of consistency, firing three-straight 74s for a six-over score of 222. Sophomore Eric Plisko had a 82-70-75=227 (+11) to tie for 37th, while junior Kevin Busteed tied for 42nd with a 77-81-72=230 (+14).

Fifth-ranked Charlotte claimed its third-straight Atlantic 10 Championship by 23 strokes. As a team, the 49ers shot a 3-under 285 on the par 72, 6,837-yard Panther Lake course on the final day. Dayton was the Championship runner-up, its best finish since joining the league in 1996, shooting par on day three and finishing with a 54-hole total of 860.

Rhode Island placed third with an 863, followed by Xavier in fourth place with an 865 and Richmond in fifth place with an 866. St. Bonaventure (869), Temple (877), Saint Joseph's (888), George Washington (889), Fordham (914), Duquesne (927) and La Salle (947) round out the field.

Charlotte earns the A-10's automatic bid to the NCAA Golf Championship and will be making its fourth-straight NCAA appearance.

Dayton junior Rob Chappell earned Dayton's first-ever individual medalist honor shooting an 11-under 205 in the three-day Championship. It was the third consecutive time that a player shot a 68 on the final day of play to merit top honors.

The 49ers placed three golfers among the top 10 finishers, led by sophomore Corey Nagy who was the medalist runner-up after shooting a 10-under. Charlotte senior Jonas Enander Hedin finished third with a 207 and senior teammate Stefan Wiedergruen was tied for fifth at five-under.

Joining Chappell, Nagy, Enander Hedin and Wiedergruen on the All-Conference team were senior Jordan Utley of Richmond (4th- 208), St. Bonaventure's Brennan Payne (T5th-211), junior Mike Beausejour of Xavier (7th- 213), junior Mark Stevens of Rhode Island (T8th-214), Dayton freshman Chris Woeste (T8th-214), Xavier senior Brian Keating (T10th- 215), sophomore Bill McDonald of Rhode Island (T10th-215) and freshman Josh Webb of Saint Joseph's (T10th-215).

Dayton's Woeste captured the league's Rookie of the Year award as the top freshman finisher and was the second Flyer in three years to earn the Rookie honor (Chappell in 2006), while Charlotte head coach Jamie Green earned his third-straight Coach of the Year award in a vote of the league's coaches.

In all, 13 golfers finished at or below par for the Championship.

First-year head coach Brian Quinn returns its entire roster for the 2008-09 season and the Owls will look to improve upon this year's seventh place showing.
