Temple Announces 2008-09 Women's Basketball Schedule

PHILADELPHIA- Six NCAA Tournament participants highlight the 2008-09 Temple women's basketball schedule, including Sweet 16 teams Duke, Rutgers and George Washington. The Owls open the year with home game against MAC opponent Bowling Green on November 14.
The Cherry and White travel to Auburn, a team that lost to A-10 opponent George Washington in the 2008 NCAA Tournament, on November 17 for their first road trip of the year. The squad then continues on to Big Ten opponent Illinois (Nov. 23) for its first-ever meeting with the Fightin' Illini.
Temple returns home to host Hampton (Nov. 29), Rutgers (Dec. 1), Dartmouth (Dec. 3), Florida State (Dec. 7) and Toledo (Dec. 10). Rutgers is coming off a Final Four appearance, while Florida State advanced to the NCAA Second Round.
The Owls take flight on December 13 for seven straight road contests that include Kent State (Dec. 13), Villanova (Dec. 20), Ball State (Dec. 22), Tulane (Dec. 28), Penn (Jan. 2) and Duke (Jan. 5). TU will also travel to MAC opponent Central Michigan on January 28.
The Atlantic 10 slate opens with a road game against Saint Joseph's (Jan. 11) at Philadelphia University and a home contest versus Rhode Island (Jan. 14). Temple will also host LaSalle (Jan. 21), Dayton (Jan. 31), Saint Louis (Feb. 8) Saint Joseph's (Feb. 15), Richmond (Feb. 21) and defending A-10 champion Xavier (Feb. 25). Road trips include Duquesne (Jan. 18), St. Bonaventure (Jan. 24), Fordham (Feb. 4), UMass (Feb. 11) and Charlotte (Feb. 18).
The Owls finish regular season play with a home game against A-10 rival George Washington on March 1.
The Temple men's and women's squads will team to host three double-headers this season, December 3, January 31 and February 8.
Charlotte will host the 2009 Atlantic 10 Tournament, March 6-9.
