AMBLER, PA - Freshman Tyler Witmer scored his first two collegiate goals to lead the Temple men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over visiting Hofstra Sunday afternoon at the Ambler Soccer Complex. The Owls battled soggy field conditions and a tough Pride squad to even their record to 2-2 on the season.

Witmer opened the scoring on a blast from 25 yards out. Sophomore Kenechukwu Nwanah found a wide open Witmer on a crossing pass to set up the tally in the 26th minute.

Witmer added an insurance goal early in the second half, finishing a sharp pass from teammate Brian Weinhardt.

The defense put up another solid performance against a very aggressive Hofstra attack. Keeper Bret Mollon made some spectacular diving saves to mark his first career shutout.

Temple will next square off with Mercer at the Ambler Soccer Complex on September 19, at 3:00 p.m. as part of the Penn Classic.
