AMBLER, PA - The Temple University men's soccer team recorded its second straight shutout, defeating Mercer 2-0 Friday afternoon in the first game of the Penn Classic. The Owls combined steady offensive pressure with solid defensive play to blank the Bears in the match which was played at the Ambler Sports Complex.

Freshman Tyler Witmer tallied his third goal of the season, unassisted in the 27th minute to put the Owls ahead. Junior Francois Sagna netted an insurance goal for the Owls in the 47th minute, dribbling past the Mercer keeper and scoring on an empty net. Junior J.T. Noone started the play, finding Sagna on a quick crossing pass.
