Golf In 12th After Two Rounds At Adams Cup

NEWPORT, RI - The Temple golf team stands in 12th place after two rounds at the prestigious Adams Cup of Newport at the par-72, 7,244-yard Newport National Golf Course. Junior Eric Plisko leads the Owls with a 75-74=149 (+5) and is tied for 23rd place with one round to play. Tee times begin on Tuesday at 8:00 AM.
The reigning Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week, senior Kevin Busteed, carded a 77-74=151 (+7) and is tied for 32nd in the 84-player field. Senior Paul Amess (75-81=156, +12) is tied for 54th, followed by sophomore Andrew Mason (79-84=163, +19) and senior Adam Pifer (89-76=165, +21).
The Owls shot a 306-305=611 (+35) over the first two rounds. Texas A&M leads the 16-team field with a 286-280=566 (-10), followed by Minnesota (284-287=571, -5) and Southern Miss (298-291=589, +13).
Texas A&M's Bronson Burgoon shot a 69-66=135 (-9) and has a four-stroke lead over Southern Miss' Rocky Cleland (69-70=139, -5).
In total, nine Adams Cup golfers are playing under par through the first 36 holes.
The final 18 holes of the Adams Cup of Newport will be contested today, beginning at 8 a.m. at Newport National Golf Club.
