Mens Soccer Tops Lafayette 3-1

EASTON, PA - The Owls captured their first win of the season 3-1 over host Lafayette in the Lafayette Classic. Sophomore Kenechukwu Nwanah scored his first goal of the season off a deflection with a blast from the 10 yard line to tie the game in the 24th minute.
Lafayette scored first in the 8th minute on a free kick by Steve Ference from 35 yards out.
The Owls rallied with two goals five minutes apart in the second half. Junior Francois Sagna found the back of the net in the 61st minute to take the lead from the Leopards. Sagna also tabbed an assist in the game. Sophomore Brian Henderson put the game out of reach with a goal in the 66th minute. Junior J.T. Noone aided the attack with two assists.
Temple out shot Lafayette 13-7 on the game. Freshman Chris Velasquez tallied two shots and one shot on goal, nearly putting it by the sprawling Lafayette keeper.
The Owls face Iona on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., in Easton, PA, as part of the Lafayette Classic. Temple improves their record to 1-1-0.
