EASTON, PA - The Owls offense continued to pressure Iona on Sunday afternoon, but struggled to find the back of the net. Temple outshot the Gaels nine to three over the game, and dominated the second half six shots to one. It was Gaels junior Giovanni Destasio who capitalized on his first shot of the game in double-overtime, handing the Owls their second loss of the season.
Temple posted a 1-1 record in the tournament, finishing second, and are now 1-2-0 on the season.
There were three Owls selected to the all-tournament team. J.T. Noone, Francois Sagna, and Kenechukwu Nwanah were given honors. Sagna tallied a goal and an assist, Nwanah a goal, while Noone totaled two assists over the two games.
Temple hosts Hofstra next Saturday at 1:00 pm in their home opener at Ambler Sports Complex.
