Cole, Williams Shine for Women's Track at Metropolitan Coaches Invitational

NEW YORK - Senior Amanda Cole once again broke the school record and met ECAC qualifying standards in the weight throw and sophomore Paris Williams also met ECAC qualifying standards and finished second in the 400 meter dash to lead the Temple Women's indoor track & field team at the Metropolitan Invitational from the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City on Friday.

The women's 4x400 team of Williams, junior Carlleen Allison, sophomore Tashima Stephens, and freshman Brittany OgunMokun also met ECAC qualifying standards with a time of 3.53.80.

Already the previous school record holder in the weight throw (53 - 1 1/2;), Cole shattered her previous mark with a throw of 55-1 at the Invitational, good for the Owls only first place finish on the day. Cole also finished second in the shot put with a throw of 41-08 3/4.

Williams was the Owls other top performer on the day. Along with being a key member of the 4 x 400 team that matched ECAC qualifying standards, she also finished second and met ECAC qualifying standards in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.62.

Also recording a top three individual performance for the Owls was sophomore Brittany Clybourne, who finished third in the women’s 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.19.

The Owls return to the Armory next Friday, January 16, for the Gotham Cup.
