PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Corrine Williams of the Temple women's gymnastics team has been named the ECAC Women's Gymnastics Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Thursday.
The Newark, Del. native helped the Cherry and White post its highest team score in nearly five years in the Owls' home quad meet on Wednesday. Williams went three-for-three in her second collegiate competition, scoring a 9.525 on vault, 9.550 on beam and 9.375 on floor exercise.
"It's rare to find a freshman that is so poised and confident on the competition floor," said head coach Aaron Murphy.
The Owls return to action on Saturday, Feb. 7, when they host the host the Liberty Classic. Action is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
