Shanea Cotton Named Owlsports.com Athlete Of The Month

PHILADELPHIA- After leading the womens basketball team to a 4-2 record during the month of December, senior Shanea Cotton was named the Owlsports.com Athlete of the Month.

Cotton averaged 13.6 ppg and 6.3 rpg in leading Temple to wins over Dartmouth, Toledo, Ball State and Tulane. She shot 55.7% from the field and netted in double figures in all but one game. The senior had a game-high 21 points in an overtime win at Tulane and sank the game-tying shot with 34 seconds left to send the game into extra time. Against Toledo, Cotton scored a career-high 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting, while contributing three blocks, two steals and eight rebounds. Against #15 Rutgers, she had 18 points.

The Gulfport, Mississippi native is leading the Owls in scoring with 13.4 ppg and is tied for the team lead in blocks (16). She is ranked second in the Atlantic 10 in field goal percentage, making 58% of her shots.
