Kacper Rams Picks Up Two Wins In Consolation Round Action

Freshman concludes play for Temple at ITA/Wilson Men's Tennis Regionals
NORFOLK, Va. - Freshman Kacper Rams made the most of his consolation bracket play at ITA/Wilson Men's Tennis Regionals, coming away with two singles wins. The tournament is being held on the campus of Old Dominion at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
Rams opened the day with a 6-1, 7-6 victory against Eddie Konrad of Navy. The rookie then squared off against Viginia Tech's Tripimir Kujundvic. Rams took the first set, 6-4, before falling 3-6 in the second. The third set was an exciting 7-5 win in favor of Rams to give him his second win of the day.
"I was very impressed by the way freshman Kacper Rams played," said head coach Steve Mauro. "He had wins over two quality opponents. It was a good showing for both Rams brothers here at ITA's."
Filip Rams, a sophomore at Temple and older brother to Kacper, went 1-1 in singles play while teaming up with his sibling to go 1-1 in doubles play at the tournament. The duo nearly upset the fourth-ranked doubles team in the country on Thursday, falling 9-8(5) to Houston Barrick and Sanam Singh of Virginia.
The Owls also have players competing at the Lehigh Fall Classic, held in Bethlehem, Pa., today and tomorrow.
