Women's Crew Competes at Head of the Schuylkill Regatta

Team overcomes heavy rain and wind for strong showing
PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's crew team continued the fall portion of its 2009-2010 season while competing at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday, October 24.
Competing in the Open 4, the Varsity 4 team comprised of Ryan Ellenbaum (stoke), Alexandria Slater-Williams (3-seat), Megan Welsh (2-seat), Claudia Loeber (bow) and Alexis Coomey (coxswain) finished 14th out of 22 teams with a time of 19:51.86.
The Varsity 8 placed a solid ninth out of 19 teams in the Championship 8 events. Erin Buchanan (coxswain), Bailey Chick (stroke), Nicole Wagner (7-seat), Brynn Moore (6-seat), Jeanine Lees (5-seat), Kara Jackson (4-seat), Taylor Wasserleben (3-seat), Kendra Dickenson (2-seat), and Megan Hanlin (bow) made up the team that finished in a time of 15:35.79.
Isabella Bourbon (coxswain), Paige O' Sullivan (stroke), Molly Schrenier (7-seat), Caitlin Pennington (6-seat), Megan Silk (5-seat), Joanna Sutor (4-seat), Alexandria Slater-Williams (3-seat), Allison Boc (2-seat), and Angela Flinn (bow) comprised the Second Varsity 8 team that finished 14th out of 19 teams in the Club 8 event. Early on in the race the team was rowing strongly when they were struck by another team, slowing them down and affecting their finish time.
Head coach Tim Hagan expressed satisfaction with the team's overall performance. “I am pleased with our results from Saturday. We had to row through a downpour and a stiff headwind but did okay.”
Up next for the squad is the Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta which is set to take place on Saturday, November 14.
