PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Princess Ann, MD to compete in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on Saturday, November 14th. A total of 13 runners from the two teams combined will compete for the Owls.
“On the women's side, it is first time we are sending competitors to regional. It just shows the program is moving in the right direction and that we can step up, compete, and have a presence,” commented head coach Eric Mobley. “For the men, they are on a roll and we expect them to go out and do well. We want them represent Temple and know that they belong at the Regionals.”
The 11th-ranked team in the region, the Temple men will be sending sophomores Dan Carreron and Travis Mahoney and David Walters, along with juniors Eddie Penetar, Mike May and Eric Conklin, and senior Adin Mickle.
The men are coming off of a record setting Atlantic 10 Championship performance, featuring a best-ever fifth place overall finish. Individually, May became the first male cross country runner in school history to earn All-Conference honors with his eighth place individual finish.
On the women's side, the Cherry and White are represented by freshmen Jenny Abercrumbie, Katherine Frank and Diedre MacFarland, sophomores Karrie Finn and Eva Sepulveda, and junior Rebecca Mims.
Mims has led the women all year, being the Owls top finisher in every meet. She improved her A-10 Championship finish from a year ago, placing 42nd. The team as a whole ran to a 13th place overall finish.
