PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's basketball completed its sweep of cross-town and Atlantic 10 rival St. Joseph's with a 60-48 win on Sunday afternoon at the Liacouras Center during the Owls' annual "Pink Zone" game.

The Owls improved to 16-8 overall and 7-3 in the Atlantic 10, while the Hawks fell to 11-14 overall and 3-7 in A-10 play. A portion of the game's proceeds will be donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund as well as the Susan G. Komen For the Cure campaign.

Temple scored the game's first four points before SJU's Jenna Loschiavo nailed a three-point bucket to cut the lead to one. Sparked by threes from freshman Kristen McCarthy and junior LaKeisha Eaddy, the Owls went on a 10-0 run to pull ahead by 11 points, 14-3. The Hawks chipped away, utilizing a 6-0 run to cut the lead to one again, 24-23 with 3:48 left in the half. Temple held a three-point advantage at intermission, 28-25.

St. Joe's opened the second half of play with a three by Mary Kate McDade to tie the game at 28-28. Then the Owls turned up the heat. Sophomore Lindsay Kimmel nailed back-to-back three pointers in the midst of TU's 14-2 run. Temple held a 20-point lead with 1:40 remaining in the game, holding the Hawks to just 15 points in the stanza at that point. But the deficit was quickly cut to 12 points on two SJU treys and a layup as well as TU turnovers.

"That wasn't a blowout finish to me," TU head coach Tonya Cardoza said. "We were up 20 points with two minutes to go. We had costly turnovers, and we were lackadaisical with the ball."

Senior Shanea Cotton was the only Owl in double figures, finishing with her fourth career double-double with game highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Eaddy and Kimmel added nine points each. Eaddy also dished out eight assists, moving her up to No. 7 on Temple's career chart with 342 career assists, and a career-high two blocks.

Loschiavo was the sole Hawk in double digits with 14 points, including four buckets from long range. Leading scorer Brittany Ford, who averages 13.0 ppg, finished with four points.

Overall, Temple out-rebounded SJU, 41-39. Temple shot 43 percent from the field, while St. Joe's shot 31 percent. The Owls went 53 percent from the free throw line (9-17), while SJU shot 50 percent (4-8).

"We're looking to be consistent," said Cardoza, whose team has just four games remaining on its regular-season schedule. "If we take care of the ball, take good shots, and play defense, we'll be fine. We control our own destiny."

Temple travels to Charlotte on Wednesday, Feb. 18 for a 7 p.m. game.
