Women's Basketball Hosts Saint Louis In Sunday Doubleheader

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple women's basketball team (14-7, 5-2 A-10) will look to make it four straight wins when it hosts the Saint Louis Billikens (10-12, 4-3 A-10) on Sunday in the first half of a men's and women's doubleheader. The game, which tips off at 12 p.m., can be heard live on WPHT 1210 AM with Joe Heyer and Kristen Foley calling all the action.
Series Record
This is the fourth meeting between Temple and Saint Louis, with Temple leading the series, 3-0. The Owls won the last meeting, 77-66, on February 27, 2008.
Home Conference Cooking
The Owls have won 17 straight home Atlantic 10 games and have lost just one, a 55-50 overtime game to George Washington (2/24/06), since the 2003-04 season. Temple is 39-1 during that stretch.
Scouting the Owls
LaKeisha Eaddy scored 20 points to lead three players in double figures as Temple posted a 59-43 victory over Fordham on Wednesday. Shenita Landry recorded her 10th career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds and Shanea Cotton had 15 points. Eaddy added four assists and three steals. Temple edged Fordham on the boards, 37-36, including 20 offensive rebounds. Kristen McCarthy filled up the stat sheet with six rebounds, four points, three assists and three steals. The Owls began the game with a 17-2 run and allowed the Rams just five first half field goals. Temple struggled to make shots in the second half, however, forcing it to do the work at the free throw line and on the boards in order to maintain its lead. The Cherry and White made just 35% of their shots but made 10-of-15 from the charity stripe and forced 19 Ram miscues.
Landry leads four Owls in double figures with 12.1 ppg and a team-high 9.5 rpg, while Shaqwedia Wallace is second with 11.8 ppg. Cotton is third with 11.4 ppg. Eaddy is fourth with 11.2 ppg and has dished a squad-high 106 assists.
Scouting the Billikens
Theresa Lisch scored a game-high 24 points, but Charlotte used hot second-half shooting and a big rebounding advantage to defeat the Billikens 70-58 Tuesday. Lisch tallied 16 first-half points but Charlotte held the league's leading scorer to eight points following the break to earn the win. Lauren Woods scored a season-high 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting and added three assists. Amanda Kemezys posted 10 points and tied for game-high honors with 10 rebounds.
Lisch leads the team with 20.9 ppg, while Kemezys is second with 12.2 ppg and a team-high 6.9 rpg.
Think Pink
Temple will hold its annual "Pink Zone" game on February 15 when its takes on the Saint Joseph's Hawks at 2 p.m. A portion of the proceeds with be donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund, as well as the Susan G. Komen's For the Cure campaign.
