Women's Crew Earns Second Place At Mayor's Cup

TAMPA, FL - After a week of training in Florida, the Temple women's crew team took to the water for their first competition of the spring at the Mayor's Cup Regatta in Tampa. The Owls recorded two winning boats in the Varsity 8 and Frosh 8 divisions en route to a second place finish overall.
Jacksonville narrowly edged out the Cherry and White by three points for the overall title.
The Varsity 8 boat was comprised of coxswain Jillian Ploof, Laura Altimari (8-seat), Laura Scullin (7-seat), Bailey Chick (6-seat), Mary Webster (5-seat), Kendra Dickenson (4-seat), Molly Peach (3-seat), Brynn Moore (2-seat), and Nicole Wagner (1-seat).
The Frosh 8 was comprised of coxswain Isabella Bourbon, Dana Meadows (8-seat), Kara Jackson (7-seat), Megan Hanlin (6-seat), Amy Shrader (5-seat), Allison Boc (4-seat), Taylor Wasserleben (3-seat), Rebecca Rosenberg (2-seat), and Molly Schreiner (1-seat).
The JV 8, consisting of coxswain Maureen McDermitt, Megan Hanlin (8-seat), Taylor Wasserleben (7-seat), Dana Meadows (6-seat), Amy Shrader (5-seat), Allison Boc (4-seat), Kara Jackson (3-seat), Kirsty Thayer (2-seat), and Erin Matlack (1-seat) finished second.
In the Frosh 4 event, coxswain Kaytlynn Gorson led Kirsty Thayer (4-seat), Erin Matlack (3-seat), Ana Tomaccio (2-seat), Iris Kapo (1-seat) to a third place finish. The JV 4 (Maureen McDermitt, Caitlin Pennington, Allison Bates, Colleen Bianco, Stephanie Kiluk) finished fourth, while the Varsity 4 (Erin Buchanan, Carolyn Bailey, Megan Silk, Ryan Ellenbaum, Courtney Wall) placed fifth.
The Owls row next when they host the Murphy Cup, March 28 on the Schuylkill.
