Pifer Leads Owls After One Round At William And Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - Senior Adam Pifer shot an even-par 71 to lead the Temple golf team, which stands in third place after one round, in the spring opening First Market Bank Intercollegiate, hosted by William and Mary on Monday. Pifer is tied for sixth place in the 116-player field and one shot back of the leaders after carding a season-low score.
The senior shot a 36 on the front and followed it with a 35 on the back. He is one behind five players who all carded one-under 70s.
Junior Eric Plisko, fresh off his victory last week at the Bermuda Match Play Championship, shot a 72 (+1) and is tied for 12th. Sophomore Andrew Mason recorded a three-over 74 to tie for 24th while senior Kevin Busteed shot a four-over 75, good to tie for 34th.
Sophomore Mark Edmondson, playing in his first match for TU after transfering from Hofstra, rounded out the lineup with an 82 (+11).
As a team, the Cherry and White shot an eight-over 292, eight shots back of Liberty, who leads the 22-team field after 18 holes. Campbell is one back after shooting a one-over 285. Gardner-Webb (294), Southern Illinois (295) and Delaware (295) round out the top five.
Play resumes at the par-71, 6,831 yard Kingsmill Resort on Tuesday.
