Vizhunov Named A-10 Rookie Of The Week

PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Dmitry Vizhunov, who won both his singles matches this weekend, has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The Sochi, Russia native has won five straight in singles and nine of his last ten.
Vizhnuov defeated Aleksander Eleczovic, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 at #4 in a 5-2 loss versus Toledo on Saturday. On Sunday, he beat Duquesne's Gustavo Villares, 6-3, 6-4 to help the Owls to a 5-2 victory.
In doubles, he teamed with senior Nathan Spunda to go 1-1 at #3. The two lost a close 9-7 match to Levi Bent-Lee and Eleczovic of Toledo before beating Villares and Rafael Santiago of Duquense, 8-1.
The award is the second time that the conference has named him its rookie of the week. He is second on the team with 14 singles victory, including a team-best 6-1 mark at #4.
Temple (7-8) hosts UC Riverside on Friday at Arthur Ashe beginning at 5 PM.
