WILLIAMSBURG, VA - Junior Eric Plisko shot a 72-70=142 (E), one shot behind tournament champion Robert Karlsson of Liberty, to lead Temple to a fourth place showing in the 22-team field at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate, hosted by William and Mary on Tuesday. The Owls finished 14th at last year's event and 20th in 2007.
Plisko now has two second place finishes to his name this season, as he fell in a playoff this fall at the St. Bonaventure Invitational. He followed yesterday's one-over 72 with a one-under 70 at the par-71, 6,831-yard Kingsmill Resort Course.
Senior Adam Pifer carded a 71-76=147 (+5) to tie for 14th for his best finish of the season. He also led the field with 30 pars.
Sophomore Andrew Mason recorded a 74-77=151 (+9) to tie for 38th, while senior Kevin Busteed had a 75-77=152 (+10) to tie for 46th. Sophomore Mark Edmondson rounded out the Owls scorecard (82-82=164, +22) in 107th.
As a team, the Cherry and White posted a 292-300=592 (+24), 18 shots behind team champion Liberty (284-290=574, +6). Campbell finished second (578, +10), followed by Southern Illinois (588, +20) in third.
It is Temple's fourth top five finish in 2008-09.
Temple will continue on its trek south to compete in the Furman Intercollegiate on Friday.
