Golf Completes First Round At Furman

GREENVILLE, SC - Senior Kevin Busteed shot a two-over 74 to lead Temple at the rain-soaked Furman Intercollegiate on Saturday. Busteed is tied for 10th in the field of 114, while the Owls are tied for 12th with a team-score of 309. The tournament, originally scheduled for 54 holes, has been shortened to 36 after rain washed out most of Friday and Saturday.
Junior Eric Plisko carded a 77 (+5) and is tied for 33rd, while sophomore Andrew Mason had a 78 (+6) and is tied for 46th. Sophomore Joseph Kim, who shot an 80 (+8) and is tied for 76th, and senior Adam Pifer (81, +9, t-87th) rounded out the Owls scorecard.
Sophomore Mark Edmondson competed as an individual, shooting a 85 (+13) to tie for 109th.
Despite standing in 12th place, the Owls are just 13 strokes behind tourney leader North Florida (296, +8). Virginia Tech is one shot back in second place, followed by East Carolina (298), Furman (301) and Troy (302). Furman's Daniel Bowden shot a three-under 69 and is alone in the top spot.
Play will resume on Sunday at 8 AM.
