Owls Tie For Seventh At Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, SC - Temple moved up the leaderboard five spots on Sunday to secure a seventh place finish at the Furman Intercollegiate. Sophomore Andrew Mason shot a 78-73=151 (+6) and placed a team-best 16th in the 114-player field. It is the best finish of the 2008-09 season for the Huntingdon Valley, PA native.
The Owls carded a 309-308=617 (+41) to tie for seventh with Winthrop and were 22 shots back of East Carolina (595, +19), who captured the team title by one stroke over host Furman. TU finished eight places and nine strokes ahead of the only other A-10 team in the field, Rhode Island.
Senior Kevin Busteed carded a 74-78=152 (+7) to tie for 20th, while junior Eric Plisko had a 77-78=155 (+10) and tied for 39th. Senior Adam Pifer (81-79=160, +15) and sophomore Joseph Kim (80-80=160, +15) tied for 84th to round out the Owls scorecard.
Sophomore Mark Edmondson competed as an individual, shooting an 85-83=168 (+23) to finish 110th.
Furman's Austin Reeves (79-66=145, E) defeated fellow Paladin Daniel Bowden on the fourth sudden death playoff hole for individual medalist honors. Reeves' 66 established a new course record on the Furman University Golf Course's new par-72, 6,994-yard layout.
Temple has a week off before traveling to Ohio State for the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on April 11-12.
