2009 USAG Event Finals Results

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Sophomore Katie Canning capped off one of the greatest individual seasons in Temple women's gymnastics history, as she captured first place in the all-around (39.075), first place on vault (9.825) and tied for second on floor (9.800), earning first-team All-America honors at the USAG Championships over the weekend from the University of Southern Connecticut State.

Freshman Kaity Watson was also outstanding over the weekend, earning first-team All-America honors after capturing third place (9.750) on vault.

Another freshman, Corrine Williams received second-team All-America honors after finishing 10th on floor with a score of 9.700.

One week after finishing 22nd at the NCAA East Regionals in Alabama, Canning had one of the best performances of her career at the USAG Championships.

"I'm so proud of her," said ECAC coach of the year Aaron Murphy. "She had personal goals set, along with teams goals from the start of the season, and she went out and accomplished all of her goals."

As a team, despite hitting 20 for 24, the Owls could not advance to the team finals.
