Golf Tied For Second After One Round At A-10s

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL - The Temple golf team is tied for second after shooting a 294 (+10) in round one at the Atlantic 10 Championship, held at the Mission Inn Resort. Senior Kevin Busteed is the top Owl after carding a one-over 72 in a three-bogey, two-birdie opening 18 holes. He is tied for sixth in the 60-player field.
Busteed had a consistent round, recording birdies on the 503-yard, par five first hole and the 442-yard, par four seventh. He is four shots back of Charlotte's Stefan Wiedergruen, who shot a three-under 68.
Sophomore Andrew Mason shot a two-over 73 after rallying to birdie his final two holes of the day. He is tied for 11th.
Junior Eric Plisko carded a three-over 74 in an up-and-down round that featured an eagle, two birdies, five bogeys and a double-bogey. He is tied for 17th.
Sophomore Joseph Kim recorded a four-over 75 with a team-high three birdies and stands in 19th place. Senior Adam Pifer (81, +10) rounded out the Owls scorecard in 42nd.
Three-time defending champion Charlotte holds a 12-shot lead over Temple and Xavier after shooting a two-under 282. St. Bonaventure (296, +12) is in fourth, followed by Rhode Island (299, +15), Richmond (306, +22), Saint Joseph's (308, +24) and Dayton (313, +29).
TU will tee off at 8 AM on Saturday as the Cherry and White are paired with Charlotte and Xavier in round two. Live scoring is available via owlsports.com.
