Owls Wrap Up Penn Relays In Thrilling Fashion

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's and women's track teams took to Franklin Field for championship Saturday at the Penn Relays. The men's 4x800 team placed third in their heat and eighth place overall with a time of 7:35.47, missing the school record by one second. The women's 4x400m team met NCAA Regional qualifying marks, becoming the first squad since the early-90's to do so.
The men's 4x800m team made their season debut as a unit, with Coach Eric Mobley combining the talents of Mitch Stroh, Marquise Stancil, Jason Sullivan, and Aaron Taylor for the event.
As for the women, Carlleen Allison, Devon DuPont, Tashima Stephens, and Paris Williams continue to find success together, finishing fourth and posting an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 3:40.89.
In the field, junior Grant West and sophomore Bob Keogh fared well in the hammer throw. West placed seventh with a toss of 184-4, while Keogh placed 10th with a distance of 174-3.
The Cherry and White will be back in action when they vie for the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship, May 2nd and 3rd, hosted by Charlotte.
