Women's Crew Competes In Kelly Cup

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's crew had a solid showing at the Kelly Cup Regatta Saturday on the Schuylkill River. The Owls' Varsity 8 placed a solid third while the freshman/novice 8 captured gold medals.

"I am pleased with our overall performance and believe we are ready to perform well at the Dad Vails," said Temple head coach Tim Hagan.

The Varsity eight, comprised of Laura Altimari (stroke), Laura Scullin (7-seat), Bailey Chick (6-seat), Mary Webster (5-seat), Kendra Dickenson (4-seat), Mary Peach (3-seat), Brynn Moore (2-seat), Nicole Wagner (bow) and coxswain Jillian Ploof, finished in a time of 7:07.3. Drexel won with a time of 6:53.5 and Saint Joseph's A (6:59.3).

Rowing the Owls frosh/novice eight to a winning time of 7:20.9 was Dana Meadows (stroke), Megan Hanlin (7-seat), Kara Jackson (6-seat), Taylor Wasserleben (5-seat), Allison Boc (4-seat), Amy Shrader (3-seat), Rebecca Rosenberg (2-seat), Molly Schreiner (bow) and coxswain Isabella Bourbon. The Cherry and White boat edged second place Drexel by four seconds.

The Owls' Varsity 4 of Carolyn Bailey (stroke), Megan Silk (3-seat), Kirsty Thayer (2-seat), Courtney Wall (bow) and Erin Buchanan (coxswain) placed third behind Drexel and Philadelphia U.

Temple is off this week with the Owls next taking to the water at the Dad Vail Regatta on May 8-9.
