Filip Rams Named Atlantic 10 Rookie Of The Week

PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Filip Rams, who was undefeated in singles and doubles last week, has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week, the league announced today. Rams won both his singles matches at the #2 spot and teamed with senior Eduardo Saavedra to go 2-0 at #1 doubles. It marks the third time this season that he has won the award.
In Friday's 6-1 victory over Saint Joseph's, Rams beat Phil Bayliss, 6-2, 6-4 at #2. In doubles, he and Saavedra beat Bayliss and Michael Stauble, 8-6.
On Saturday, the Katowice, Poland native defeated Brandon Abbateillo, 6-1, 6-1 at #2 to help the Owls to a 7-0 win at Fordham. In doubles, he and Saavedra beat Dallas Harting and Nick Kelly, 8-2, at #1.
Rams is 21-8 in singles, including 10-5 this spring. He is 16-8 in doubles.
The Owls (10-8) will host Rider on Tuesday at 4:30 PM at the TU Pavilion.
