PHILADELPHIA - A total of 63 Temple University student-athletes participated in Thursday's Commencement ceremonies at the Liacouras Center.
Among those participating were basketball's Dionte Christmas (Philadelphia, Pa.), who is preparing for the NBA Draft, and football's Terrance Knighton (Windsor, Conn.), a third round draft pick last month by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"It was a day of celebration for Temple Athletics," Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw said. "We are proud of our student-athletes' success in the classroom. This is a reflection of our academic support overhaul which has helped bolster our APR scores. Our head coaches are to be congratulated also for playing essential roles in this success."
The 63 student-athletes represented all 24 of Temple's intercollegiate sports. Football had the most graduates with 13. The numbers include summer 2009 and fall 2008 graduates.
In celebration of the accomplishments of the graduating seniors, Temple Athletics hosted a reception following graduation exercises for the student-athletes and their families.
