Track Teams Compete at Second Day of ECAC/1C4A Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. - Sophomore Assata Cowart, junior Grant West and the women’s 4x400 meter team, all qualified for the NCAA Regionals and advanced to the event finals to highlight the Temple men’s and women’s track teams on the second day of the ECAC/IC4A Champions from Princeton, New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.

In the ECAC 400 meter hurdles, Cowart recorded a time of 1:00.70, good for 6th place and second place in the heat. That time means that Cowart qualifies for the NCAA Regionals and will advance to tomorrow’s 400m hurdles finals.

The women’s 4x400 meter relay team – comprising senior Carlleen Allison, senior Devon DuPont senior, Tashima Stephens and sophomore Paris Williams - finished with an impressive time of 3:41.87 , good for third place. With that time, the team qualifies for the NCAA Regionals and will advance to tomorrow’s 400m hurdles finals.

On the men’s side, the top performance came form junior West. He finished sixth in the finals of the IC4A hammer throw with a throw of 59.44, good enough to earn a spot in the NCAA Regionals. Sophomore Bob Keogh finished 12th with a throw of 56.57.

Several other Owls put on impressive performances  at the ICFA/ECAC Finals but failed to reach tomorrow's event finals.

In the men's 400 meter dash, senior Marquise Stancil finished ninth with time of 47.26, narrowly missing both the NCAA qualifying time and the event finals.

The men's 4x100 team finished 10th with a time of 41.62, also narrowly missing both the NCAA qualifying time and the event finals.

In the IC4A 110 m hurdles, junior Joshua Louis finished 19th with a time of 14.71.

Competing in two events, sophomore Tim Boeni had impressive performances in both. In the long jump, he finished 12th with a jump of  23-00.50. In the 200m dash, Boeni finished 14th with a time of 21.90.

In the 400m hurdles, junior Brad McFadden finished 12th with a time of 52.99.

On the women's side, Brittney McRae finished11th in the long jump with a jump of 18-07.

In the Women’s 400 meter dash, Williams finished 11th with a time of 55.40.

Women’s 100 hurdles, sophomore Britteny Clybourn finished 15th in the semifinals with a time of 14.54.

The events finals will take place tomorrow from Princeton.
