Women's Crew Fares Well At Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's crew turned in a successful performance on the Schuylkill River at the 71st Dad Vail Regatta Saturday afternoon. The freshman/novice eight placed second in its semifinal heat and qualified for the final where it finished fourth, just under two seconds shy of a medal. The varsity eight placed third in its heat, and then placed fifth in the Second Final.

The Owls freshman/novice eight, comprised of coxswain Isabella Bourbon, stroke Dana Meadows, Megan Hanlin (7-seat), Kara Jackson (6-seat), Taylor Wasserleben (5-seat), Allison Boc (4-seat), Amy Shrader (3-seat), Rebecca Rosenberg (2-seat), Molly Schreiner (bow), finished just behind Connecticut in both its semifinal heat and final. Buffalo took home the gold in a winning time of 7:19.207 while Old Dominion posted a 7:20.323 for silver and UConn finished in 7:22.051. The Owls time of 7:23.741 was more than four seconds ahead of local rival Drexel.

The varsity eight, comprised of coxswain Jillian Ploof, stroke Laura Altimari, Laura Scullin (7-seat), Bailey Chick (6-seat), Mary Webster (5-seat), Brynn Moore (4-seat), Mary Peach (3-seat), Kendra Dickenson (2-seat), Nicole Wagner (bow), finished third in a strong heat behind Buffalo and Purdue. Two Atlantic 10 teams, Fordham and UMass, placed one-two in the Second Final while the Owls bested UConn for fifth place by eight seconds.
