Busteed has a breakout season as a senior. His stroke average was three strokes lower than his previous best and he recorded six top-20 finishes in 2008-09, the first of his career. He also had three top 10 and one top five finish.
He tied for 15th at the Atlantic 10 Championship with a 72-78-76=226 (+13) to help the Owls finish fourth at A-10s. His best finish was fifth at the Big 5 Invitational (69-75=144, +2), which played a big role in the Cherry and White capturing its first team title since 2005.
Other strong tournaments for Busteed included The McLaughlin (70-73-68=211, +1), where he tied for sixth, and the ODU/Seascape Invitational (71-74=145, +5), where he tied for eighth.
Plisko also carded a career low stroke average on his way to five top 20 finishes and three top five showings. He earned all-Atlantic 10 honors after finishing 17th with a 74-74-80=228 (+15), and along with sophomore Andrew Mason, was the first Owl since 2003 to earn all-league honors.
He nearly won a pair of events, finishing second in a playoff at the St. Bonaventure Invitational (70-72=142, +2) and opening up the spring with another runner-up finish at the William and Mary First Market Bank Intercollegiate (72-70=142, E).
In March, Plisko won the Bermuda Match Play Championship with an 11&10 victory over Santo Lafoca.
They are joined by four Atlantic 10 golfers on the all-region team--Brandon Barrack (George Washington), Jim Bea (Saint Joseph's) and Rhode Island's Taylor Fontaine and Mark Stevens. Villanova's Brendan Kelly also made the team.
