PHILADELPHIA – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced this week that recent Temple graduate and track & field standout Amanda Cole was honored as a member of the women’s Division I All-Academic team for her accomplishments during the indoor and outdoor seasons. Cole, who boasted a 3.37 cumulative GPA during her senior season a psychology major, leaves Temple as the indoor weight throw and outdoor hammer throw record holder.

The Wilmington, Del. native (Charter School of Wilmington) garnered multiple conference awards, including being named a member of the Indoor Academic All-Conference team. A four-time A-10 Performer of the Week honoree, Cole was consistently a top performer for the Cherry and White, taking a second place finish in the hammer throw at this year’s outdoor A-10 Championships.

During the indoor season, Cole’s shining moment came at the ECAC Championships. The senior thrower helped lead the women’s team to their best finish in program history, placing third overall. Cole also made history, becoming the first TU female in twenty years to record an NCAA provisional mark when she landed a second place toss of 62-05.00 in the weight throw.

A record total of 531 student-athletes from 146 Division I institutions composed this year’s USTFCCCA women’s All-Academic team. To qualify, members must own a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or better, and have either met the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standards, or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.
