Andrew Mason Named To Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

PHILADELPHIA - Temple sophomore Andrew Mason has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team, it was announced today. Mason is the only sophomore on the six-man golf team, which was voted on by in voting by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Mason posted a fifth place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship, the lowest showing by an Owl since 2003, to earn all-conference honors for the first time in his career. He carded a 73-73-74=220 (+7) and was eight shots back of the individual winner, helping the Cherry and White to a fourth place showing, its best since 2002.
The Abington Friends graduate earned Owlsports.com Athlete of the Month honors for April. He posted a 75.8 stroke average this season, including a low of 69. A business management major, Mason owns a 3.29 grade point average.
He was joined on the team by Cabrini's Tim Harner (Performer of the Year, Penn's Michael Blodgett and Bryant Williams, Swarthmore's David Lau and Holy Family's Jonathan Radick.
