Owls' senior is one of 38 Division I men's soccer honorees from across the nation

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's soccer standout J.T. Noone has been selected as one of 38 individuals comprising the 2009 Hermann Trophy Watch List. Considered the highest individual honor in collegiate soccer, the Hermann Trophy is awarded to the nation's top Division I men's soccer athlete.

Noone, a preseason second team All-America honoree, posted record breaking numbers in 2008 for the Owls. His 12 assists set a school mark, breaking the previous mark of nine set by Tony Donatelli in 2004. A starter in every game for the Cherry and White, Noone led the Atlantic 10 in assists and assists per game, as well as ranking third nationally in assists per game. The midfielder tallied seven goals, and led the team in points with 26.

A native of Harrisburg, Pa. (Central Dauphin), Noone boasts a 3.78 cumulative grade point average as an economics major, and was honored as a member of the 2008 NSCAA/adidas Senior College Men's Scholar All-America Soccer Team as well as the 2008 ESPN The Magazine's First Team Academic All-America.

A list of 15 semifinalists is selected by a coaches committee in November, with three finalists announced in early December. They will invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo., for a news conference on Jan. 8, 2010, where the winner will be announced, with a presentation banquet following.

The Owls take the pitch for the first time in an exhibition match at Drexel on August 29 (5:00 p.m.). Temple's first regular season match is Friday, September 4 (3:30 p.m.) versus Soccer 7 rival Villanova at the Ambler Sports Complex.
