PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's soccer standout J.T. Noone is one of 30 Division I men's soccer seniors selected a candidate for the 2009 Lowe's Senior Class Award. Noone, a standout on the field and in the classroom, is the first Owl to receive such honors in the three years of the awards existence.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
A native of Harrisburg, Pa. (Central Dauphin), Noone boasts a 3.78 cumulative grade point average as an economics major, and was honored as a member of the 2008 NSCAA/adidas Senior College Men's Scholar All-America Soccer Team as well as the 2008 ESPN The Magazine's First Team Academic All-America.
The midfielder had a record setting season in 2008, topping the TU single-season mark for assists with 13, and becoming the first men's soccer player in 22 years to be named NSCAA second team All-America.
Noone can add this to his already impressive list of preseason accolades, being named to the 2009 Hermann Trophy Watch List and a preseason All-America team member.
The men's soccer candidate section of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award will be available soon at www.seniorclassaward.com.
The Owls take the pitch for the first time in an exhibition match at Drexel on August 29 (5:00 p.m.). Temple's first regular season match is Friday, September 4 (3:30 p.m.) versus Soccer 7 rival Villanova at the Ambler Sports Complex.
