Conn, Diviny, Ferretti, and Yurkovic tally for the Owls
AMBLER, Pa. - The Temple women's soccer (1-1-0) team fought through constant rain at Ambler Sports Complex Friday afternoon and notched their first win of the season over Saint Francis (Pa.). Four different Owls contributed to the second-half scoring barrage, leading the Cherry and White to a 4-1 victory.
Saint Francis broke the scoreless tie in the 37th minute, with junior Rachel Seibert netting a goal on a breakaway.
Only seconds later, TU sophomore Niki Conn netted the equalizer, beating the Red Flash defense unassisted.
The Owls opened the floodgates in the second half, as junior Kelly Diviny notched the eventual game winner on a free kick in the 54th minute from just outside the box. Two minutes later, sophomore Allicia Yurkovic scored on a centering pass from junior Steph Ferretti.
Not to be left out, transfer sophomore Nicky Petrillo tallied her first goal in Cherry and White on a pass from freshman Jackie Krostek.
Head coach David Jones was impressed with his teams quick comeback, "I thought we came out strong and I thought we put a lot of pressure on them early. The great part is we were resilient and we scored less than a minute after they scored and got ourselves back in the game."
Junior keeper Kara Williams started in goal for TU, posting one save. Williams would leave the game at halftime, being replaced by freshman Gillian Kacsuta, who posted one save.
Temple is now boasting a three game win streak at the friendly confines of Ambler Sports Complex.
The Owls travel to compete in the High Point Tournament September 4 and 6, where they will face off with Elon and the College of Charleston.
