Owls looking to build upon success in 2009-10

ANNAPOLIS, MD - Coming off its best Atlantic 10 Conference showing in seven years, the Temple golf team tees off its 2009-10 season at the Navy Fall Golf Classic this weekend.  The Owls will be part of a 15-team field that includes three other A-10 programs (George Washington, La Salle and Saint Joseph's) and city-rovals Drexel and Villanova.
"We are excited to open the season against such a strong field," Third-year Temple head coach Brian Quinn said.  "Hopefully we can continue to build upon last year's success this season."
Temple, which finished fourth at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Golf Championship, returns all-conference players in junior Andrew Mason and senior Eric Plisko, who finished fifth and 17th respectively at the conference championship. They are the first all-A-10 honorees since James Chan finished fourth in 2003 and it was the first time since 2002 that a pair of Owls earned all-conference recognition (Jon Rusk, Jerry Chen).

The Owls tee-off at 8:30 a.m. at the Naval Academy Golf Club.  The two-day tournament concludes Sunday.
