Rams Brothers Lead Temple Men's Tennis At Navy Invitatonal

Polish twins remain unbeaten in doubles play

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Rams brothers remained unbeaten at doubles to start the season as the Temple men's tennis team turned in a solid effort Saturday at the Navy Invitational. The Owls won two singles and the first doubles match against Marist in the non-team scoring event which concludes Sunday.

"It was another dominant performance by the Rams that highlighted a strong effort," Temple head coach Steve Mauro said. "Filip also won at number one singles and Mansur remained unbeaten as well. We look forward to our meeting against Navy tomorrow."

Sophomore Filip Rams and his freshman brother Kacper easily dispatched the Marist duo Christian Coleya and Marcus Von Nordheim, 8-1. That was the lone doubles win for the Owls thought.

Filip Rams followed with a three-set win (6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-1) win over Coley at first singles. His brother lost a three-setter to Loic Sessagesimi at second singles.

Sophomore Mansur Gishkaev won his second straight singles match, defeating Marcus Von Nordheim, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3, at fourth singles. Sophomore Dmitry Vizhunov and freshman Luv Sodha lost at third and sixth singles, respectively while Matt King was unable to compete at fifth singles due to injury.

The Owls take on Navy tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. to conclude the tournament.
