Women's Tennis Earns First Victory of 2010

HANOVER, N.H. - The Temple women's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2010 season on Sunday, defeating Southern New Hampshire, 6-1, at the Boss Tennis Center on Dartmouth's campus.
The Owls earned a clean sweep in doubles play with each duo defeating their opponents 8-0. At first doubles, it was freshman Katharina Mittag and junior Theresa Stangl. Junior Lucie Pazderova and senior Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova teamed up at second doubles, while junior Josephine Bergman and sophomore Mellana Cramer took the third doubles spot.
In singles play, Southern New Hampshires only point of the day came in a three-set first flight. Amber Chandronnait came back from a 3-6 first set loss against Pazderova to claim the second and third sets, 6-0 and 10-7.
The Cherry and White took care of business in the final five flights, taking four of them in straight sets.
Temple improves to 1-1 on the season. The Owls will be back in action on January 27 at Princeton at 10:00 a.m.
