Owls senior broke her own school record at Princeton Relays
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Announced by the league office, Temple women's indoor track and field standout Melissa (Gale) Hand has been named Atlantic 10 Women's Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week, for the week ending January 25.
The Heislerville, NJ (Millville) native shattered her own school record in the pole vault this past weekend at the Princeton Relays, clearing a height of 11-11.05 in the event for a second place finish and meeting ECAC qualifying marks. She bettered her personal best set in 2008, when she cleared 11-03.75.
The Owls are back in action this weekend, when both teams travel to State College, Pa. for the Penn State National Open on January 29-30.
