McCarthy shot 10-of-17 from the field, dished out a game-high six assists and tallied three steals. Stone recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points to go along with her 15 boards, and tied her season-high with three blocks.
Temple held Saint Louis to 38 percent shooting for the game as the Owls, who rank 13th in the nation in scoring defense, held their fifth straight opponent to 55 points or less.
Amanda Kemezys led the Billikens with 12 points and five rebounds, while Lauren Woods scored nine points and also grabbed five boards.
Stone controlled the opening tip for Temple before scoring the first basket of the game, and the Owls never trailed in the contest.
The Owls built their first double-digit lead on a steal and fastbreak layup from McCarthy, putting the lead at 19-9 with 11:36 remaining in the first half. Temple led by as many as 14 in the half, and the Billikens never cut the margin to single digits after the four-minute mark.
McCarthy, who led all players with 14 points at the half, gave Temple a 37-25 halftime lead after sinking a jumper at the buzzer. Stone nearly had a double-double by halftime with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Temple opened the second half with a 7-0 run to take a 19-point, 44-25 lead at 17:13. The scoring was then slowed by a string of turnovers from the Owls, who more than doubled their eight turnovers of the first half by halfway through the second.
The Billikens' shooting woes caused Temple's turnovers to not be as costly as they could have been, but Saint Louis was able to narrow the margin to 12, 51-39 at the nine-minute mark. Stone scored four points on a 5-0 run that put the lead back at 17, but a couple three-pointers for Saint Louis brought the margin back to 12 with 4:30 remaining.
Ashley Hanlen drained the Billikens' third consecutive trey at 2:37 to cut the Owls' lead to 11, but Temple stayed error-free the rest of the way and went 2-for-3 from the field to seal the win.
The Owls will be back in action this Saturday, Jan. 30 at home in the Liacouras Center. As part of a doubleheader, the women will play at 3:00 p.m. against St. Bonaventure, following the men's game against La Salle at noon.
