Watson leads all-around, on vault

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Sophomore Kaity Watson posted the best vault of the night and the leading all-around score as the Temple women's gymnastics team scored a team total of 187.775, Wednesday night at Rutgers.
Watson scored a 9.750 on vault, 9.100 on uneven bars, 9.450 on beam, and 9.525 on floor to tally 37.825 points all around.
The Scarlet Knights were up to the task Wednesday night, barely out-matching the Owls total with a team score of 188.550.
Junior team-captain Kathryn Ho excelled on beam this evening, scoring a meet-best 9.700. Teammate Katie Canning finished right behind her in the standings, scoring 9.675 in the event.
Ho also earned a second place finish on uneven bars (9.325), an apparatus she continues to excel on for the Owls.
Competing all-around for just the second time in her career, freshman Jean Alban had a fine night, scoring a total of 36.925.
Sophomore Corrine Williams led the Owls on floor, scoring the third best total of the night (9.550).
Temple has a weekend off to gear up for the Liberty Classic, hosted in the friendly confines of McGonigle Hall on February 6. Action is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
