Connor McNicholas leads Owls with12th place finish

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA - Freshman Connor McNicholas turned in his best performance of his rookie season, carding a four over-par 144 to tie for 12th at the Big 5 Invitational. McNicholas, who was a one-over 71 on Sunday, helped host Temple place 14th in the 21 team event at the Plymouth Country Club. Furman (574) won the two-day event, besting second place St. John's by eight strokes while the Paladins' Matt Broome led the field of 111 golfers with a seven under-par 133.
Princeton (583) and Kentucky were one stroke back of St. John's in third place while Yale and Binghamtom were tied in fifth place with a 587 total. Rounding out the field in descending order were Seton Hall (588), Villanova (591), Rhode Island (593), Penn (593), Campbell (594), Dartmouth (597), Harvard (597), Temple (598), Fordham (605), Brown (616), Francis Marion (617), Cornell (618) Drexel (619), Saint Joseph's (623) and La Salle (628).
Freshmen Steve Burak was six strokes behind McNicholas as the second Owl finisher, tying for 42nd overall with a 150. Senior Andrew Mason and sophomore Devin Bibeau tied for 66th with 154s while freshman Russell Hartung (155, t-71) rounded out the Cherry and White.
Temple next competes at the Lincoln Mercury Invitational, October 16-17, hosted by Seton Hall.
