THIS WEEK
Temple travels to Buffalo on Saturday, Oct. 23. Kickoff is set for Noon at UB Stadium. ESPN?Plus/Game Plan/espn3.com will broadcast the game live regionally with Michael Reghi calling the action and Doug Graber providing color commentary. The game will be shown locally on 6ABC?(WPVI-TV).

The Owls' radio broadcast will air on WPHT 1210 AM with Harry Donahue calling the play-by-play and Steve Joachim providing color analysis.

Under the direction of fifth-year head coach Al Golden, Temple stands 5-2 overall (2-1 in MAC) after a 28-27 win over Bowling Green. The 2010 squad returns 21 starters to 16 positions. The Owls utilize an?East Coast offense and 4-3 defense.

Sophomore RB Matt Brown (Baltimore, Md.) leads all rushers with 504 yards and six touchdowns on 91 carries. Senior WR Michael Campbell (Edison, N.J.) is the top receiver with 312 yards and three touchdowns on 20 receptions. R-junior QB Chester Stewart (Hanover, Md.) went 72-of-135 for 842 yards and four touchdowns. Senior DB Jaiquawn Jarrett (Brooklyn, N.Y.) leads the defense with 58 tackles, including a team-high 33 solos.

In the national rankings, Temple ranks No. 29 in kickoff returns (24.08). Individually, junior DB?Delano Green is No. 24 in punt returns (10.91).

Buffalo, under the guidance of first-year head coach Jeff Quinn, is 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the MAC after a 45-14 loss at Northern Illinois. The Bulls return 14 starters to their multiple offense and 4-3 defense.

Nationally Buffalo stands No. 11 in pass efficiency defense (103.87), No. 14 in punt returns (14.13), and No. 26 in tackles for loss (7.17).

R-freshman RB Branden Oliver is the Bulls' leading rusher with 223 yards on 77 carries. Sophomore QB?Jerry Davis is 98-of-211 for 1,224 yards and 12 touchdowns. Junior WR Markus Rivers is the top receiver with 518 yards and three touchdowns on 37 receptions. Sophomore DB Davonte Shannon leads the defense with 50 tackles and two interceptions.

HOMECOMING IN OCTOBER
For the third time this month, the Owls will be visiting opponents during their Homecoming games. Temple stands 1-1 so far, beating Army 42-35 before falling to NIU, 31-17. Next up, Buffalo.

COMMON TIES
Prior to joining the Owls, Temple assistant coaches Matt Rhule (offensive coordinator) and Andrew Dees (offensive line) were assistants at Buffalo. Rhule served as the assistant defensive line coach in 1999 and as the defensive line coach in 2000. Dees coached the tight ends from 2001-05.

Temple junior DE Adrian Robinson (Harrisburg, Pa.) and UB junior DL Derrick Brown played together for coach George Chaump at Harrisburg HS, helping the Cougars to a 12-2 record as seniors.

Buffalo's athletics communications director Jon Fuller is a 1995 Temple graduate.

AGAINST THE HOME STATE
Overall, Temple has six players­ from the state of New York, mostly hailing from the New York City and Long Island areas. R-freshman OL Scott Roorda (Westmoreland, N.Y.) lives upstate. Conversely, Buffalo has eight players from Pennsylvania, with only senior OL Jordan Jerrold (Fairless Hills / Pennsbury HS) from the Philadelphia suburban area.

TEMPLE-BUFFALO: THE SERIES
Saturday's game will mark the 15th meeting between the Owls and Bulls and the fourth in MAC?play. Buffalo holds a 12-2 advantage in the series which began in 1957.

In the teams' meeting in 2009, Temple took advantage of miscues en route to a 37-13 win at Lincoln Financial Field for their first win over the Bulls in MAC play. James Nixon returned a 92-yard kickoff for the Owls' first touchdown. Seconds before intermission, LB?Elijah Joseph scored his first collegiate TD on a 95-yard interception return.

During the Owls last trip to Buffalo in 2008, the Bulls claimed a thrilling 30-28 win at UB?Stadium as time expired.
