TEMPLE-NIU CONNECTIONS
Temple has just one player on its roster from the state of Illinois-- senior OT Colin Madison (Villa Park, Ill.). Northern Illinois' roster has no players from Pennsylvania. Actually the Huskies have just two players from the East— freshman TB Trevor Jacobs (Wayne, N.J.) and r-senior DE Darnell Bolding (Washington, D.C.). Their roster features players from the Midwest, 57 from Illinois alone.

TEMPLE-NIU: THE SERIES
Saturday's game is the fourth meeting between the Owls and the Huskies and just the second game in MAC play. In series action, Northern Illinois leads, 2-1.

During their last meeting in 2007 (and first in MAC play), league newcomer Temple claimed its first-ever win in conference play with a 16-15 decision at Lincoln Financial Field. DT Terrance Knighton put the Owls on the scoreboard with a 66-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. PK Jake Brownell added three field goals, including a 39-yarder with nine seconds on the clock to seal the win.

NIU won the first two contests of the series, a 43-21 win in 2006 in DeKalb, Ill., and a 20-17 win at Veterans Stadium in 1989.

In 2006, WR Travis Shelton compiled 311 all-purpose yards, including 204 receiving yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to overcome a record day for NIU's DE Larry English and kicker Chris Nendick. Temple QB Adam DiMichele went 20-of-28 for 322 yards and three touchdowns. NIU held a 19-0 halftime lead and then extended it to 40-0 before the Owls got on track.

In 1989, Ventres Stevenson rushed for 133 yards and a TD on 29 carries in the defeat. The Huskies earned the victory on an eight-yard Stacey Robinson TD run with 3:16 remaining.
