Women's Crew Wraps Up Fall Season With Two Race Weekend

Varsity 8 takes home two first place finishes

PHILADELPHIA - The Women's Rowing team ended their fall season with a successful weekend at the Philadelphia Frostbite and Bill Braxton Memorial Regattas. The women's first Varsity 8 placed first in both meets, while the second Varsity 8 won silver at the Braxton Regatta.

On Saturday (Nov. 13), the Varsity 8 placed first only a few seconds ahead of Drexel in what Coach Tim Hagen called, "One of the best fights we have put up this year." The Varsity 8 stayed close to Drexel through the first 500 meters, and was able to gain a substantial lead by the 1000 meter mark. Although, Drexel was able to catch up to the Owls in the last 500 meters, the Women's 8 won the gold medal.

Sunday (Nov. 14), was another successful day for the Women's team with the Varsity 8 winning gold, and the Second Varsity 8 winning silver. The Varsity 4 pulled a 5th place finish in yet another competitive heat for the first time in their new lineup.
