Atlantic 10 Conference Celebrates 35 Years

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - In recognition of the 35th-year anniversary, the Atlantic 10 Conference will unveil a “35 Years of A-10 History” during the 2010-11 academic year on the Atlantic 10 website and through various multimedia channels.
“The Atlantic 10 Conference has had a historic and exciting 35 years of great competition, legendary coaching, and hall of fame athletic performances,” stated Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “The A-10 has a tradition-rich history and we are proud and excited to take this special trip down memory lane.”
Major accomplishments and features were collected from each year, beginning with the inception of the Conference as the Eastern Collegiate Basketball League in 1975-76.
The league office will utilize a variety of content delivery channels, including social networks and new media outlets to broadcast the selected “moment” for each year. Videos, highlight-reels, interviews and pictures will all be incorporated to help commemorate the A-10's 35th-year anniversary.
Additionally, the Conference will extend the opportunity for fans to vote on three designated years to choose their favorite “moment” from that specific year. Voting will take place through the Atlantic 10's official website, www.atlantic10.com.
The first highlight will be released the week of Nov. 29, 2010 through the Atlantic 10 Conference official athletic website – www.atlantic10.com. Historical moments will be released each week, and will culminate during the 2011 Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Championship, March 11-13, in Atlantic City, N.J.
