Women's Track & Field Geared Up To Start Indoor Season At Jack Pyrah Invitational

Accomplished senior class of eight leads very talented squad

PHILADELPHIA - Coming off of arguably one of the best seasons in program history, the Temple women's track & field team is not resting on its laurels. The return of a group of Atlantic 10 indoor champions combined with the Owls incoming class makes this team an even stronger presence in the conference.
Head coach Eric Mobley, entering his third season, has rapidly transformed the Owls into one of the top teams in the Atlantic 10. The Owls are confident that they not only can compete in the conference, but also regionally and nationally.
Temple welcomes back a highly accomplished senior class, highlighted by Shadaya Bennett, Tashima Stephens and Paris Williams. The trio contributed heavily to the success of the 4x800m and 4x400m relay squads last season, and all individually have the talent to take top honors in any given meet.
The Owls are also excited about the rise of several freshman who made an impact on last year's squad. Sophomores Victoria Gocht, Sheina Roberts and Tonney Smith made their collegiate debuts memorable and proved they have what it takes to compete at the highest level.
In the throws, a pair of juniors look to carry the bulk of the load for the Owls. Alanna Owens and Rachel Furman have both been an integral part of securing points in the field events for Temple.
The Cherry and White open the 2010-11 indoor season at the Jack Pyrah Invitational on December 3. The throwing events will take place at Villanova University starting at 4:00 p.m., while the rest of the events will be held at Haverford College at 5:00 p.m.
