PHILADELPHIA – Natasha Thames scored a game and career-high 15 points and added a game-high 10 rebounds for a double-double in leading the Temple women's basketball team to a 63-45 win against visiting Hartford. It was the fourth straight win for the Owls, who now stand at 6-4 on the season.

Satoria Bell scored 11 points for Temple on 3-of-5 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 at the line, while Kristen McCarthy tallied her seventh double-figure scoring game this season with 10 points. BJ Williams led all players with four assists.

Daphne Elliott scored 12 points to lead Hartford (1-9), while teammate Nikkia Smith added 11 points and a team-high seven boards.

The lead changed eight times early in the first half, but after the game's fourth tie at 15-15, Temple took a lead on two free throws from Bell and never trailed again in the contest.

The Owls led by as many as 10 down the stretch in the first half, in which they committed just one turnover and took a nine-point, 33-24 lead into the break.

The Hawks came within as few as five points early in the second half on a three-pointer from Elliott, but a 5-0 run gave the Owls a 10-point, 42-32 lead and the margin was never in the single digits again.

Temple still led by only 10 with 8:26 remaining, but outscored Hartford 13-2 down the stretch to lead by as many as 21 in the game.

Committing just eight total turnovers to Hartford's 14, the Owls finished with a 13-6 edge in second chance points. Temple out-shot the Hawks 41.8 percent to 34.6 percent, and dominated in the paint with 34 points to Hartford's 16.

Temple will have more than a week before its next game, a 12:00 p.m. contest at Villanova on Sunday, Dec. 19. That will be the first of the Owls' four Big 5 games in 2010-11.
