TOWSON, Md. – Junior Katie Canning placed third on floor and second on beam and vault to lead the Temple women's gymnastics team to a fourth place finish at the Towson Invitational, Saturday afternoon.
The Owls totaled a team score of 185.750 on the meet. Host and defending ECAC champion Towson owned the highest score of the afternoon with a total of 192.150.
Canning scored a team-best 9.725 on floor, while earning a score of 9.650 on beam and a like score on vault.
Also on floor, senior Nina Oteri and sophomore Corrine Williams placed in the top ten, with scores of 9.675 and 9.625 respectively. Williams also fared well on vault, placing ninth with a score of 9.525.
Freshman Jean Alban competed all-around for Temple, scoring a total of 36.700 for fifth place. Alban placed in the top ten on beam with a score of 9.525.
Specialist Chelsea Troutman was the Owls' highest scorer on uneven bars, placing sixth with an average of 9.650.
Up next for the Owls is a meeting with West Chester on February 26. Competition is slated for 6:00 p.m.
