Owls look to keep pace with conference leaders in key A-10 contest

PHILADELPHIA - The #18/20 Temple men's basketball team returns to the Liacouras Center Wednesday night to play host to preseason Atlantic 10 Conference favorite Dayton. The game will tip-off at 6:30 p.m. to accomodate television (Comcast SportsNet locally). Temple will be collecting old cell phones at the game in support of Verizon Wireless' HopeLine program.
The Owls (22-5, 10-2), under the direction of head coach Fran Dunphy, have won three straight and are tied for second in the A-10 standings, one-half game behind Richmond (22-6, 11-2). Senior guard Ryan Brooks (14.9 ppg.) continues to lead the Owls attack, but sophomore guard Ramone Moore (7.7 ppg.), who has averaged 16.7 over the last six contests, is the team's hottest player. Moore replaced the injured Juan Fernandez (12.0 ppg.) in the starting lineup at Richmond (2/6).
Junior forward Lavoy Allen (11.4 ppg./10.3 rpg.) is one of three players in the conference averaging a double-double. Sophomore forward Micheal Eric (5.4 ppg.) and senior guard Luis Guzman (5.1 ppg.) round out the starting five.
The Flyers (18-8. 7-5), under the direction of head coach Brian Gregory, are led by preseason first team all-league pick, senior forward Chris Wright (14.7 ppg.). Sophomore forward Chris Johnson (12.5 ppg.) tops UD in rebounding (7.4 rpg.) while senior guard London Warren (4.5 ppg.), a preseason all-A-10 defensive team selection, is third in the conference with a team-leading 4.2 assists per game.
Temple leads the all-time series, 14-11, but the Flyers have won the last three meetings.
